Det Stavangerske Dampskibsselskap AS ''(DSD)'' is a private Norwegian shipping company that operates internationally through the subsidiary DSD Shipping AS 13 vessels. The group also owns major parts of Tide and Nor Lines. DSD dates back to 1855 when it was founded. Head offices are located in Stavanger.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=DSD Shipping as )〕 In 2007 the group sold its former subsidiary Stavangerske to the newly founded Tide ASA. Tide was the result of the merger between Hardanger Sunnhordlandske Dampskipsselskap and Gaia Trafikk. DSD today owns approximately 75% of Tide. It also holds a 50% stake in Nor Lines that operates coastal dry bulk transport south of Bergen and onwards to Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea. The company has sold its partial ownership of Nor-Cargo and Allianse to Posten Norge, in 2004 and 2006 respectively. ==Company logo== The DSD logo has its origins from the tradition of painting three red rings around the DSD fleet's chimneys. In 1903 these rings were incorporated into a company flag, which is strikingly similar to the current Flag of Puerto Rico, originally introduced 11 years earlier. The DSD flag is also present in several of the subsidiary logos.
